This August, over a million boys will fasten pads, put on helmets and participate in a sport much larger than any individual team, league or state.

On the field, it’s the culmination of an off-season packed with training, preparation and hard work. Off the field, it’s a uniting element for communities in both small towns and large cities, as fans, parents, cheerleaders, referees and volunteers gather for Friday night’s rite of passage.

Kickoff ‘08 is upon us, the first ball launched end over end to an eager return man brings with it the hopes, dreams, friendships, battles and togetherness that characterize everything that high school sports should stand for. Welcome back, football.
