Video: Xcellent 25 High School Football RankingsFolsom is back in the Top 25 for the first time since the opening week. The top two teams in the country —
St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) and
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) — both won this past week setting up the eighth 1 vs. 2 showdown in the MaxPreps era on Friday.
The Braves rolled past Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) 63-28 to improve to 7-0.
DJ Uiagalelei completed 23-of-28 passes for nearly 300 yards and finished the night with three touchdowns. St. John Bosco returned three kickoffs for scores and 2020 USC commit
Kris Hutson had two of them. The future Trojan also hauled in two touchdowns.
The Monarchs cruised to a 49-7 win over Santa Margarita (Calif.).
Bryce Young didn't play in the second half and still threw for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns.
Bru McCoy and
Mike Martinez both finished the night with two touchdown receptions.
When these two Trinity League rivals square off at the Santa Ana Bowl on Friday it will be the 17th meeting between the two since 2004. Mater Dei has won the last two and has won nine of the previous 16.
See the video above for a complete look at this week's Xcellent 25 rankings presented by the Army National Guard. There wasn't much movement in the Top 25. Teams 15 through 24 all moved up one spot after the defending Ohio Division-I state champs, Pickerington Central (Pickerington, Ohio), had its 18 game winning streak snapped against Lancaster (Ohio).
Folsom (Calif.) is the only new team to jump into the Top 25. The Bulldogs are back in the rankings for the second time this season and have reeled off six straight wins since a season-opening loss to No. 12 De La Salle (Concord, Calif.). Folsom averaged nearly 60 points per game during the six-game win streak and has one of the most explosive offenses in the country led by
Kaiden Bennett,
Joe Ngata and
Daniyel Ngata.
