Four of the five regions have a new No. 1 team in the MaxPreps regional baseball rankings.
Mountain Ridge takes over the top spot in the Southwest after reaching the Division 1 state semifinals in Arizona, while Brother Rice takes over the top spot in the Midwest.
In the South, Bryant moved into a tie for the No. 1 spot with Sparkman. In the Northeast, Monroe-Woodbury took over at the top of the rankings. Buchanan maintained its No. 1 ranking at the top of the West regional rankings.
The regional rankings are based on the
MaxPreps National Baseball Computer Rankings presented by the Army National Guard. The team's
record and computer ranking are noted in the rankings. Numbers are
current as of Tuesday.
The 50 states are divided into five regions as follows:
West: Hawaii, California, Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Colorado.
Southwest: Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona.
South:
Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina,
North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia.
Midwest: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas.
Northeast:
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode
Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia.
States not included: Montana and Wyoming (do not have baseball), Iowa (season is during the summer).
