Five ranked teams lost over the weekend, causing major shake up in the Xcellent 25 Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
Mission Viejo (Calif.),
Stony Point (Round Rock, Texas),
West Monroe (La.),
Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), and
Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) all were eliminated from the playoffs. However, the nation's top team once again held on for a win.
Trinity (Euless, Texas) came from behind to beat previous-No. 11 Stony Point 28-24. The Trojans' defense stepped up, holding the Tigers' potent offense to just seven points in the second half.
Offensively, Trinity was able to sustain a long drive while clinging to a four-point lead to run out the clock and eliminate any hope of a Stony Point comeback.
The Trojans will take on Pearland for the 5A-I title on Saturday.
