The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Sumter Gamecocks (Sumter, SC) and the host Spring Valley Vikings (Columbia, SC), witnessed Sumter's basketball squad hold off Spring Valley by a count of 53-48.

With the victory, Sumter advances its record to 6-8 on the year. The Gamecocks host Lugoff-Elgin (Lugoff, SC) to meet the Demons in a AAAAA Region 5 battle on Monday, January 6.
