In Friday's non-league contest, the host Liberty Eagles basketball team scored a close 29-28 win over the Illini West Chargers.

The Eagles (9-6) will now prepare for their contest against Calhoun (Hardin, IL). The Warriors come into the non-league contest with a 1-3 record. In their last contest, Calhoun edged Carlinville (Carlinville, IL), 41-33, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Chargers battle the Astoria/VIT Rebels (Astoria, IL) in a Prairieland contest, on Monday, January 6. Illini West will attempt to better on its 9-9 season record. The Rebels come into the contest with a 1-13 record after their 35-31 non-league loss to Rushville-Industry (Rushville, IL).
