Tennessee High School Basketball - McMinn County nudges McCallie
January 7, 2025: Athens, TN 37303 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the McMinn County Cherokees (Athens, TN) and the visiting McCallie Blue Tornado (Chattanooga, TN), observed McMinn County's basketball team edge McCallie by a score of 44-41.
The Cherokees (9-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Rhea County (Evensville, TN). The Golden Eagles come into the 4A District 5 challenge with a 16-6 record. In their last challenge, Rhea County edged Meigs County (Decatur, TN), 78-36, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Blue Tornado encounter the Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish (Knoxville, TN) in a Division II-AA East challenge, on Friday, January 10. McCallie will attempt to improve on its 9-7 season record. The Fighting Irish come into the challenge with a 11-4 record after their 76-65 non-league win over Walker Valley (Cleveland, TN).
