The Belton Tigers (Belton, TX) basketball nipped the visiting University Trojans (Waco, TX), 58-57 in Friday's league test.

The Tigers (24-5) will now prepare for their test against Waco (Waco, TX). The Lions go into the 5A Region III District 22 test with a 9-18 record. In their last match, Waco was nipped by Lake Belton (Temple, TX), 73-69, in a league match.

With the defeat, University moves to 23-5 on the year. The Trojans host Chaparral (Killeen, TX) to meet the Bobcats in a 5A Region III District 22 match on Tuesday, January 30. The Bobcats enter the match with a record of 16-17. Chaparral lost 63-52 in their recent league match against Ellison (Killeen, TX)
