The crowd at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Fort Meade Miners (Fort Meade, FL) and the visiting DeSoto County Bulldogs (Arcadia, FL), observed Fort Meade's basketball team overwhelm DeSoto County by a score of 68-43.

The Miners (12-8) will now prepare for their challenge against Excel Christian Academy (Lakeland, FL). The Spartans come into the non-league challenge with a 2-13 record. In their last challenge, Excel Christian Academy was routed by Calusa Prep (Miami, FL), 73-28, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Bulldogs encounter the Lemon Bay Manta Rays (Englewood, FL) in a 4A District 12 challenge, on Friday, January 31. DeSoto County will attempt to improve on its 8-16 season record. The Manta Rays come into the challenge with a 8-13 record after their 61-48 non-league win over Ida Baker (Cape Coral, FL).
