February 7, 2025: Gatesville, TX 76528 The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the La Vega Pirates (Waco, TX) and the host Gatesville Hornets (Gatesville, TX), observed La Vega's basketball team overwhelm Gatesville by a score of 72-44.
The Pirates (16-2) will now prepare for their challenge against China Spring (China Spring, TX). The Cougars come into the 4A Region III District 23 challenge with a 15-16 record. In their last challenge, China Spring trounced Connally (Waco, TX), 48-46, in a league challenge.
In their next game, the Hornets battle the Lorena Leopards (Lorena, TX) in a 4A Region III District 23 challenge, on Tuesday, February 11. Gatesville will attempt to improve on its 19-13 season record. The Leopards come into the challenge with a 17-16 record after their 70-40 league win over Robinson (Robinson, TX).
