West Carteret Patriots (Morehead City, NC) supporters left the game thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Richlands Wildcats (Richlands, NC), 4-1 in a league game.

With the triumph, West Carteret improves its record to 17-3 on the year. The Patriots travel to Swansboro (Swansboro, NC) to play the Pirates in a Coastal 3A game on Friday, May 2. The Pirates enter the game with a record of 10-12. Swansboro lost 15-4 in their recent non-league game against South Central (Winterville, NC)

The Wildcats now hold a 16-5 record. They play next when they host White Oak for a Coastal 3A game on Thursday, May 1. Richlands will play a Vikings squad coming off a 10-3 league loss to Dixon (Holly Ridge, NC). The Vikings record now stands at 11-11.
