Merced Bears (Merced, CA) fans went home in high spirits Thursday as they saw their flag football team thwart the host Atwater Falcons (Atwater, CA), 27-6 in a league match.

The Bears (17-2) will now prepare for their match against Buhach Colony (Atwater, CA). The Thunder come into the Central California Conference match with a 9-6 record. In their last match, Buhach Colony went down by El Capitan (Merced, CA), 14-6, in a league match.

Coming up next, the Falcons meet the Golden Valley Cougars (Merced, CA) in a Central California Conference challenge, on Tuesday, September 30. Atwater will attempt to improve on its 11-4 season record. The Cougars go into the challenge with a 4-11 record after their 31-0 league loss to Los Banos (Los Banos, CA).
