The Anson Bearcats (Wadesboro, NC) basketball edged the host Forest Hills Yellow Jackets (Marshville, NC), 63-58 in Friday's league bout.

The Bearcats now possess a 12-5 record. They play next when they travel to North Stanly for a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 21. Anson will play a Comets team coming off a 66-57 league loss to Mount Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, NC). The Comets record now stands at 14-2.

With the loss, Forest Hills falls to 7-9 on the campaign. The Yellow jackets host Monroe (Monroe, NC) to play the Redhawks in a 2A/3A Rocky River bout on Tuesday, January 21. The Redhawks go into the bout with a record of 5-0. Monroe won 69-27 in their recent league bout against Central Academy (Monroe, NC)
