Smithson Valley Rangers (Spring Branch, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Seguin Matadors (Seguin, TX), 40-28 in a league bout.

With the win, Smithson Valley upgrades its record to 11-18 on the season. The Rangers host Wagner (San Antonio, TX) to clash with the Thunderbirds in a 5A Region IV District 26 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Thunderbirds go into the bout with a record of 19-4. Wagner won 62-33 in their recent league bout against Pieper (San Antonio, TX)

Next up, the Matadors clash with the Tivy Antlers (Kerrville, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 26 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Seguin will attempt to upgrade on its 9-23 season record. The Antlers go into the bout with a 16-5 record after their 44-37 league win over Canyon (New Braunfels, TX).
