Mississippi High School Basketball - South Pontotoc crushes Walnut

South Pontotoc Cougars (Pontotoc, MS) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Walnut Wildcats (Walnut, MS), 61-40 in a non-league bout.

With the win, South Pontotoc upgrades its record to 20-4 on the season. The Cougars travel to Ripley (Ripley, MS) to play the Tigers in a 4A Region 2 bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 3-9.

Next up, the Wildcats play the Pine Grove Panthers (Ripley, MS) in a 2A Region 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Walnut will attempt to upgrade on its 6-15 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 17-7 record after their 69-42 league win over East Union (Blue Springs, MS).
