In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Maplewood Rockets basketball team scored a close 48-42 win over the Girard Indians.

The Rockets (14-1) will now prepare for their contest against Mathews (Vienna, OH). The Mustangs come into the Northeastern - Stars contest with a 4-12 record. In their last contest, Mathews edged Windham (Windham, OH), 42-15, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Indians battle the John F. Kennedy Catholic Eagles (Warren, OH) in a non-league contest, on Monday, January 27. Girard will attempt to better on its 8-7 season record. The Eagles come into the contest with a 12-3 record after their 62-32 league win over Mogadore (Mogadore, OH).
