North Carolina High School Basketball - Monroe thwarts Piedmont

The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Monroe Redhawks (Monroe, NC) and the host Piedmont Panthers (Monroe, NC), observed Monroe's basketball team knock off Piedmont by a score of 58-48.

The Redhawks (5-1) will now prepare for their challenge against West Stanly (Oakboro, NC). The Colts come into the 2A/3A Rocky River challenge with a 9-5 record. In their last challenge, West Stanly prevailed over Parkwood (Monroe, NC), 54-32, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Panthers battle the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets (Marshville, NC) in a 2A/3A Rocky River challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Piedmont will attempt to improve on its 5-7 season record. The Yellow Jackets come into the challenge with a 10-2 record after their 65-21 non-league win over South Stanly (Norwood, NC).
