The Baldwyn Bearcats basketball team scored 54 points and held the visiting Ashland Blue Devils to 42 in the Bearcats non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Bearcats now sport a 5-7 record. They put it on the line next when they host Tremont for a 1A Region 1 contest on Friday, January 5. Baldwyn will battle a Eagles team coming off a 62-45 non-league win over Brilliant (Brilliant, AL). The Eagles record now stands at 7-8.

The Blue Devils (4-10) will now prepare for their contest against Independence (Independence, MS). The Wildcats enter the non-league contest with a 13-4 record. In their last contest, Independence ran past Hickory Flat (Hickory Flat, MS), 56-42, in a non-league contest.
