Virginia High School Basketball - George Wythe triumphant over Grayson County
January 9, 2025: Wytheville, VA 24382 The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) and the visiting Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA), observed George Wythe's basketball team overwhelm Grayson County by a margin of 76-39.
The Maroons (7-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles come into the Mountain Empire challenge with a 6-5 record. In their last challenge, Auburn trounced Altavista (Altavista, VA), 68-59, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Blue Devils battle the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) in a Mountain Empire challenge, on Tuesday, January 14. Grayson County will attempt to better on its 1-5 season record. The Maroon Tide come into the challenge with a 0-5 record after their 52-44 non-league loss to Alleghany (Sparta, NC).
