In Thursday's non-league challenge, the host Capital Cougars volleyball team scored a close 2-1 triumph over the Independence Patriots.

The Cougars (11-20) will now prepare for their challenge against Buffalo (Buffalo, WV). The Bison come into the non-league challenge with a 10-21 record. In their last challenge, Buffalo was nudged by Wirt County (Elizabeth, WV), 2-0, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Patriots play the Greenbrier East Spartans (Lewisburg, WV) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, October 23. Independence will attempt to upgrade on its 12-18 season record.
