In Friday's league game, the Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX) football team edged the visiting Lopez Lobos (Brownsville, TX), by a tally of 41-38.

In their next game, the Tigers battle the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas (Pharr, TX) in a 5A-2 Region IV District 16 game, on Thursday, October 24. Mercedes will attempt to better on its 4-3 season record. The Javelinas enter the game with a 1-6 record after their 45-20 league loss to Pace (Brownsville, TX).

The Lobos (5-2) will now prepare for their game against Porter (Brownsville, TX). The Cowboys enter the 5A-2 Region IV District 16 game with a 0-7 record. In their last game, Porter was edged by Edcouch-Elsa (Edcouch, TX), 45-0, in a league game.
