North Carolina High School Football - New Hanover edged by Laney

The Laney Buccaneers got by the visiting New Hanover Wildcats football team by a score of 33-28 in Friday's league challenge.

In their next game, the Buccaneers face the North Brunswick Scorpions (Leland, NC) in a Carolina Coast 6A/7A/8A challenge, on Friday, October 31. Laney will attempt to improve on its 5-4 season record. The Scorpions go into the challenge with a 3-6 record after their 35-13 league loss to Hoggard (Wilmington, NC).

The Wildcats (4-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Topsail (Hampstead, NC). The Pirates go into the Carolina Coast 6A/7A/8A challenge with a 0-9 record. In their last test, Topsail was nipped by West Brunswick (Shallotte, NC), 21-0, in a league test.
