In Friday's non-league match, the host Richlands Blue Tornado football squad scored a good 42-15 victory over the Galax Maroon Tide.

The Blue Tornado (1-7) will now prepare for their match against Marion (Marion, VA). The Scarlet Hurricanes enter the Southwest match with a 0-8 record. In their last match, Marion was beaten by Grundy (Grundy, VA), 40-13, in a non-league match.

Coming up next, the Maroon Tide confront the Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA) in a Mountain Empire match, on Thursday, October 31. Galax will attempt to upgrade on its 0-7 season record. The Pioneers enter the match with a 1-7 record after their 49-6 league loss to George Wythe (Wytheville, VA).
