Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) and the host Ashley Screaming Eagle (Wilmington, NC), saw Laney's basketball squad hold off Ashley by a tally of 49-44.

With the victory, Laney improves its record to 8-0 on the campaign. The Buccaneers host Panther Creek (Cary, NC) to battle the Catamounts in a non-league contest on Thursday, December 28. The Catamounts come into the contest with a record of 5-2.

The Screaming Eagle (2-5) will now prepare for their contest against Holly Springs (Holly Springs, NC). The Golden Hawks come into the non-league contest with a 7-1 record.
