The New Athens Yellow Jackets (New Athens, IL) basketball nipped the host Metro-East Lutheran Knights (Edwardsville, IL), 35-30 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Yellow Jackets (2-10) will now prepare for their test against Maryville Christian (Maryville, IL). The Lions go into the non-league test with a 3-10 record. In their last test, Maryville Christian was tipped by Father McGivney Catholic (Glen Carbon, IL), 74-19, in a league test.

The Knights now own a 0-12 record. They play next when they host Greenville for a non-league test on Thursday, December 21. Metro-East Lutheran will encounter a Comets squad coming off a 44-17 non-league win over Wesclin (Trenton, IL). The Comets record now stands at 6-4.
