In Friday's non-league test, the Alief Taylor Lions (Houston, TX) basketball squad defeated the host Texas City Stingarees (Texas City, TX), by a score of 66-58.

Next, the Lions clash with the Alief Hastings Bears (Houston, TX) in a 6A Region III District 20 test, on Friday, January 3. Alief Taylor will attempt to improve on its 5-13 season record. The Bears come into the test with a 3-11 record after their 50-40 league loss to Fulshear (Fulshear, TX).

The Stingarees (3-14) will now prepare for their test against Ball (Galveston, TX). The Tornadoes come into the 5A Region III District 20 test with a 5-7 record. In their last test, Ball went down by Jesuit (Tampa, FL), 50-40, in a non-league test.
