The Ennis Lions basketball squad (Ennis, TX), was nudged 67-64 in Saturday's non-league battle with the visiting Athens Hornets (Athens, TX)

With the victory, Athens advances its record to 12-7 on the year. The Hornets travel to Kemp (Kemp, TX) to meet the Yellowjackets in a 4A Region II District 15 battle on Tuesday, December 31. The Yellowjackets enter the battle with a record of 9-13. Kemp lost 67-42 in their recent non-league battle against Pine Tree (Longview, TX)
