In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Hitchcock Bulldogs basketball team scored a close 44-41 triumph over the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns.

The Bulldogs (13-7) will now prepare for their contest against Silsbee (Silsbee, TX). The Tigers go into the non-league contest with a 8-13 record. In their last contest, Silsbee was nudged by Klein Oak (Spring, TX), 59-52, in a non-league battle.

The Longhorns now own a 11-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Tarkington for a 4A Region III District 19 battle on Friday, January 3.
