Illinois High School Basketball - Eastland nips Jefferson
December 29, 2022: Lanark, IL 61046 Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Eastland Cougars (Lanark, IL) and the visiting Jefferson J-Hawks (Rockford, IL), saw Eastland's basketball squad hold off Jefferson by a count of 53-47.
With the victory, Eastland upgrades its record to 10-6 on the campaign. The Cougars host Milledgeville (Milledgeville, IL) to play the Missiles in a Northwest Upstate Illini - South challenge on Friday, January 6. The Missiles come into the challenge with a record of 1-9. Milledgeville lost 54-17 in their recent non-league challenge against Pecatonica (Pecatonica, IL)
Next up, the J-Hawks play the Hononegah Indians (Rockton, IL) in a Northern Illinois 10 challenge, on Tuesday, January 3. Jefferson will attempt to upgrade on its 9-6 season record. The Indians come into the challenge with a 14-3 record after their 42-36 non-league win over Lake Forest (Lake Forest, IL).
