The North Star Cougars (Boswell, PA) basketball nipped the visiting United Lions (Armagh, PA), 49-48 in Friday's non-league test.

The Cougars (6-2) will now prepare for their test against Claysburg-Kimmel (Claysburg, PA). The Bulldogs go into the non-league test with a 5-4 record.

The Lions now own a 5-4 record. They play next when they travel to West Shamokin for a Heritage test on Tuesday, January 2. United will encounter a Wolves squad coming off a 46-37 non-league win over Valley (New Kensington, PA). The Wolves record now stands at 6-3.
