Texas High School Basketball - Canyon trounces McNeil
December 29, 2023: Canyon, TX 79015 The Canyon Eagles (Canyon, TX) basketball crushed the visiting McNeil Mavericks (Austin, TX), 45-16 in Friday's non-league test.
The Eagles (11-4) will now prepare for their test against Randall (Amarillo, TX). The Raiders go into the 4A Region I District 4 test with a 13-4 record. In their last test, Randall walloped Sunnyvale (Sunnyvale, TX), 50-46, in a non-league test.
The Mavericks now own a 7-12 record. They play next when they travel to Vandegrift for a 6A Region IV District 25 test on Friday, January 5. McNeil will encounter a Vipers squad coming off a 65-49 non-league win over Klein (Klein, TX). The Vipers record now stands at 17-6.
