In Friday's non-league match, the visiting Fort Chiswell Pioneers basketball team scored a tight 54-50 triumph over the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes.

In their next game, the Pioneers meet the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) in a Mountain Empire match, on Wednesday, January 3. Fort Chiswell will attempt to move on its 7-1 season record.
