December 30, 2023: Hampton, VA 23666 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Smithfield Packers (Smithfield, VA) and the host Bethel Bruins (Hampton, VA), saw Smithfield's basketball squad hold off Bethel by a count of 65-62.
With the victory, Smithfield upgrades its record to 5-2 on the campaign. The Packers host Norfolk Collegiate (Norfolk, VA) to play the Mighty Oaks in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, January 2. The Mighty Oaks come into the challenge with a record of 12-3. Norfolk Collegiate lost 55-51 in their recent non-league challenge against Severn School (Severna Park, MD)
Next up, the Bruins play the Heritage Hurricanes (Newport News, VA) in a Peninsula challenge, on Tuesday, January 2. Bethel will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Hurricanes come into the challenge with a 3-5 record after their 70-35 non-league win over Anacostia (Washington, DC).
