The LaPoynor Flyers basketball team (LaRue, TX), was toppled 67-56 in Saturday's non-league battle with the host Mexia Black Cats (Mexia, TX)

The Black Cats now possess a 11-10 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Elkhart for a 3A Region III District 20 battle on Tuesday, January 2. Mexia will confront a Elks team coming off a 59-34 non-league loss to Frankston (Frankston, TX). The Elks record now stands at 8-10.

The Flyers (12-8) will now prepare for their battle against La Vega (Waco, TX). The Pirates come into the non-league battle with a 11-3 record. In their last battle, La Vega beat Glen Rose (Glen Rose, TX), 58-55, in a non-league battle.
