In Monday's non-league contest, the host Patton Panthers basketball team scored a good 74-64 triumph over the Draughn Wildcats.

The Panthers (4-8) will now prepare for their contest against East Rutherford (Forest City, NC). The Cavaliers go into the 1A/2A Mountain Foothills 7 contest with a 2-10 record. In their last contest, East Rutherford was topped by Northwest Cabarrus (Concord, NC), 61-46, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Wildcats confront the Mitchell Mountaineers (Bakersville, NC) in a 1A/2A Western Highlands contest, on Friday, January 3. Draughn will attempt to better on its 2-9 season record. The Mountaineers go into the contest with a 4-3 record after their 78-53 non-league win over Enka (Enka, NC).
