February 5, 2025: Independence, VA 24348 George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) boosters left the game satisfied Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the host Grayson County Blue Devils (Independence, VA), 72-40 in a league match.
With the victory, George Wythe upgrades its record to 16-4 on the year. The Maroons travel to Auburn (Riner, VA) to face the Eagles in a Mountain Empire match on Friday, February 7. The Eagles enter the match with a record of 12-8. Auburn lost 56-54 in their recent non-league match against Narrows (Narrows, VA)
The Blue Devils now sport a 3-12 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Galax for a Mountain Empire match on Friday, February 7. Grayson County will face a Maroon Tide squad coming off a 81-53 league loss to Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA). The Maroon Tide record now stands at 1-12.
