The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the The Covenant Eagles (Charlottesville, VA) and the host New Covenant Gryphons (Lynchburg, VA), observed The Covenant's basketball team edge New Covenant by a score of 64-59.

The Eagles (7-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Roanoke Catholic (Roanoke, VA). The Celtics come into the Virginia Independent challenge with a 17-9 record. In their last challenge, Roanoke Catholic was tipped by Virginia Episcopal School (Lynchburg, VA), 68-61, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Gryphons encounter the Carlisle Chiefs (Axton, VA) in a Virginia Independent challenge, on Monday, February 10. New Covenant will attempt to improve on its 15-8 season record.
