In Thursday's non-league game, the host Metro-East Lutheran Knights baseball team scored a close 6-5 win over the Southwestern Piasa Birds.

The Knights (13-7) will now prepare for their game against Breese Central (Breese, IL). The Cougars go into the non-league game with a 13-9 record. In their last game, Breese Central nudged Columbia (Columbia, IL), 8-6, in a non-league game.

Next, the Piasa Birds play the Staunton Bulldogs (Staunton, IL) in a South Central game, on Friday, May 2. Southwestern will attempt to improve on its 8-14 season record.
