In Friday's non-league game, the host Mount St. Joseph Gaels baseball team scored a close 5-4 victory over the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers.

The Gaels (14-6) will now prepare for their challenge against John Carroll (Bel Air, MD). The Patriots go into the MIAA A challenge with a 19-6 record. In their last challenge, John Carroll nipped Archbishop Curley (Baltimore, MD), 17-0, in a league challenge.
