In Friday's non-league match, the host Hempfield Area Spartans football squad scored a close 28-23 triumph over the North Hills Indians.

The Spartans (1-0) will now prepare for their battle against Franklin Regional (Murrysville, PA). The Panthers go into the non-league battle with a 0-1 record. In their last battle, Franklin Regional was tipped by Plum (Pittsburgh, PA), 42-13, in a non-league battle.

The Indians now have a 0-1 record. They play next when they travel to Seneca Valley for a non-league battle on Friday, August 29. North Hills will play a Raiders team coming off a 43-26 non-league loss to Bethel Park (Bethel Park, PA). The Raiders record now stands at 0-1.
