Ohio High School Football - Anderson overwhelms Loveland
August 25, 2023: Cincinnati, OH 45255 The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Anderson Raptors (Cincinnati, OH) and the visiting Loveland Tigers (Loveland, OH), observed Anderson's football squad bounce Loveland by a count of 48-14.
The Raptors now own a 2-0 record. They play next when they host Lebanon for a Eastern Cincinnati contest on Friday, September 1. Anderson will encounter a Warriors squad coming off a 34-29 league loss to Milford (Milford, OH). The Warriors record now stands at 1-1.

First Quarter
Anderson got off to a hot start in Friday night's win over Loveland that helped propel them over the Tigers early. Brodey Berg caught a 14-yard pass from Justice Burnam to give Anderson the early lead, and a TJ Nelson rush tacked on two more for the Raptors. Anderson led 8-0 after the first quarter.
Second Quarter
In the second, a pair of Brodey Berg runs helped distance the lead from Loveland. The first came with 9:22 remaining in the half, a five-yard rush from the senior Berg. Anderson's pass on the two-point attempt was no good, and the score stayed at 14-0. Loveland struck back to make it 14-7, but Berg delivered another five-yard run to return the lead to two scores. The pass failed again on the 2-point try, and Anderson led 20-7. With 1:03 left in the half, Burnam connected with junior Caden Piening for a 25-yard touchdown. Goethe made the extra point and the Raptors went into halftime leading 27-7.
Third Quarter
Brodey Berg ran for a third touchdown in the third to make it Anderson 34, Loveland 7. The score held for the remainder of the quarter and Anderson entered the fourth quarter up by 27.
Fourth Quarter
Berg led off the fourth quarter scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run with 8:01 left in the game to distance the lead even further to 40-7. Goethe made his third extra point of the night to bring it to 41-7. Loveland scored a touchdown for the second time of the night and first in the second half to close the gap at 41-14. With 5:48, Burnam found Aiden McClanahan deep for a 64-yard touchdown pass, Burnam's third of the night. Goethe kicked his fourth extra point of the night, and Anderson won 48-14 over Loveland.
