Phoenix Christian Cougars (Phoenix, AZ) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team triumph over the visiting Benson Bobcats (Benson, AZ), 49-14 in a non-league battle.

With the win, Phoenix Christian advances its record to 2-0 on the season. The Cougars travel to Highland Prep (Surprise, AZ) to confront the Honey Badgers in a 2A Metro 4 match on Friday, September 5. The Honey Badgers come into the match with a record of 1-1. Highland Prep lost 26-6 in their recent non-league match against Chino Valley (Chino Valley, AZ)

Coming up next, the Bobcats confront the Tombstone Yellow Jackets (Tombstone, AZ) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 5. Benson will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Yellow Jackets come into the match with a 0-1 record after their 28-7 non-league loss to Miami (Miami, AZ).
