The Merced Bears got by the host Downey Knights football team by a score of 41-39 in Friday's non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Bears face the Madera Coyotes (Madera, CA) in a non-league test, on Friday, September 19. Merced will attempt to move on its 3-0 season record.

With the defeat, Downey drops to 1-2 on the campaign. The Knights travel to Amador Valley (Pleasanton, CA) to meet the Dons in a non-league test on Friday, September 12. The Dons come into the test with a record of 0-2. Amador Valley lost 14-10 in their recent non-league test against Monterey Trail (Elk Grove, CA)
