Lakeside Knights (Downs, KS) followers went home pleased Friday as they saw their football team nip the host Pike Valley Panthers (Scandia, KS), 30-28 in a non-league match.

The Knights (1-0) will now prepare for their match against Stockton (Stockton, KS). The Tigers come into the non-league match with a 0-1 record. In their last match, Stockton was nudged by Logan/Palco (Logan, KS), 46-0, in a non-league match.

Coming up next, the Panthers confront the Lincoln Leopards (Lincoln, KS) in a non-league battle, on Friday, September 12. Pike Valley will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Leopards go into the battle with a 1-0 record after their 62-14 non-league win over Ellis (Ellis, KS).
