Preview: Waxahachie Indians vs. Lake Ridge Eagles

Waxahachie is 8-2 against Lake Ridge since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Waxahachie Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lake Ridge Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Waxahachie knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully Lake Ridge likes a good challenge.

Waxahachie only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 26-point they dealt Mansfield on Tuesday. Waxahachie put the hurt on Mansfield with a sharp 84-58 victory. Given Waxahachie's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Mansfield is ranked 298th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Waxahachie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Parker Jefferson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Jefferson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Isayah Pankey, who scored 13 points along with four steals.

Meanwhile, Lake Ridge waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with an 81-69 win over Mansfield Legacy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Lake Ridge's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ahmare Rose, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Matthew Alexander was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.

Waxahachie has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Lake Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 26-5.

Waxahachie didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Lake Ridge in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 74-68 victory. Does Waxahachie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
