Orange Beach, Calvary Christian make a jump this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school softball rankings

There are several big changes in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 national high school softball rankings, including the reigning national champions returning to the top five.

Orange Beach (Ala.) has jumped back to No. 3 after capturing the Kissimmee Klassic title last week. The Makos went 4-0 and beat several nationally-ranked teams, including previous No. 2 Doral Academy (Doral, Fla.) and No. 16 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) 3-2 in the championship. Auburn commit Daigle Wilson had a monster tournament, racking up nine hits in 14 at-bats.


Three other teams are new to the rankings this week. Curry (Jasper, Ala.) has won 27 straight games and is led by Ambrey Taylor, an Alabama commit with 59 career home runs including 11 this season.



Lincoln-Way Central (New Lenox, Ill.) is off to a 6-0 start. Dominant right-handed pitcher Lisabella Dimitrijevic has yet to allow an earned run. The Florida State pledge has struck out 69 batters in 28 innings of work and has 840 Ks in her prep career.

Mississippi State commit Teagan Revette had herself a tournament last week. In four games played, the junior hit three home runs and drove in six runs.

4. Katy (Texas)
Record: 27-1 | Last week: 4
Evie Willemssen drove in four runs and Ella Kate Smith pitched a complete game shutout during a 6-1 win over Katy Taylor on Friday.

5. Norco (Calif.)
Record: 17-2 | Last week: 5
Dakota Potter Leighton Gray and Tamryn Shorter all hit bombs during a 5-1 victory over Saint Francis.



6. Lake Creek (Montgomery, Texas)
Record: 24-0 | Last week: 6
Sara Wiggins and Laney Galloway combined to drive in seven runs as the Lions beat A&M Consolidated 13-2 on Friday.

7. Calvary Christian (Clearwater, Fla.)
Record: 17-0 | Last week: 12
Morgen Talley struck out 15 during a 7-1 win over Lake Brantley on Friday.

8. Coahoma (Texas)
Record: 21-0 | Last week: 8
Hannah Wells tossed a no-hitter and Bree Lewis went deep during a 11-0 win over Colorado on Friday.

9. Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.)
Record: 14-2 | Last week: 14
Freshman Rylee Silva pitched a complete game shutout during a 1-0 victory over Norco at the Michelle Carew Classic.

10. Doral Academy (Doral, Fla.)
Record: 18-1 | Last week: 2
Eighth-grader Camila Diaz pitched 4.1 innings, striking out five, and allowing just two runs during a 6-2 bounce back win over Bartow.

11. Barbers Hill (Mt. Belvieu, Texas)
Record: 24-2 | Last week: 11
Hailey Nutter mowed down 11 as the Eagles blanked Lee 10-0 on Friday.



12. Rosary Academy (Fullerton, Calif.)
Record: 16-2-1 | Last week: NR
The Royals are loaded with sophomore talent. Daleah Cardenas, Jenna Caldera, K'lene Gutierrez and Hailey Huerta are all batting above .490.

Kamryn Pierce had a double and drove in three runs as the Patriots beat T.R. Miller 9-1 on Monday.

14. Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.)

The Eagles went 4-1 at the Kissimmee Klassic, falling to Orange Beach 3-2 in extra innings in the final.

Sophomore Hayden Hodge drove in both runs as the Tigers beat George County 2-0 on Saturday.



18. Catawba Ridge (Fort Mill, S.C.)

B.G. Yates had a triple and a pair of RBI as the Copperheads shutout Fort Mill 10-0 on Friday.

Blakely Davis hit a big triple that drove in two during a 3-2 win over Tuscaloosa County on Thursday.

20. Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, Calif.)

The Trojans fell to Whitney 5-1 on Monday. Back in action Wednesday vs. Granite Bay.

21. Austintown-Fitch (Youngstown, Ohio)

Rachel Spalding and Morgan Roby each went yard as the Falcons beat Jefferson Area 16-3 on Saturday.

22. Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, Va.)

Abby Bond sent one out and drove in three runs as the Knights edged St. John's 5-4 on Friday.

Sophomore ace Skiely Perry is 17-0 and has struck out 130 batters in 77 innings. She currently has .099 ERA.
