The Steel Valley Ironmen will take on the South Allegheny Gladiators at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
Shady Side Academy hit Steel Valley with a four-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Ironmen fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 6-5. The Ironmen have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Logan Thomas was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Elijah Brugos was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Allegheny, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They never let South Park get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gladiators have posted since March 27th.
Not much got past Hunter Fulmer, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep South Park off the board. Fulmer also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because South Allegheny is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-6 otherwise.
At the plate, South Allegheny saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Nesky, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
South Allegheny is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Steel Valley, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Steel Valley might still be hurting after the 15-3 defeat they got from South Allegheny in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Ironmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
