The Lebanon Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the Central Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lebanon is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, things could have been worse for Lebanon, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-50 loss to Glendale. While losing is never fun, Lebanon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Glendale is ranked 55th).
Despite their loss, Lebanon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Madison Myers, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Bodie Cox was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Central had to endure a 31-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Parkview with a 44-40 win on Monday. The victory was just what Central needed coming off of a 51-29 defeat in their prior match.
Lebanon's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Central, their victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-15.
Everything came up roses for Lebanon against Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 73-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lebanon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
