The Liberty Lancers pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Castle View. While losing is never fun, Liberty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Castle View is ranked 31st).
Liberty's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Cunningham, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavyn Franz, who scored 13 points.
Seth Harris was on fire for Castle View: he scored 33 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mckean, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals.
Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Castle View, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will take on Cheyenne Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cheyenne Mountain comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Castle View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Doherty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday.
