For the second straight game, Memorial will face off against Foster. The Mustangs will square off against the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Memorial heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They came up short against Foster, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.
For Foster's part, they got a great performance from Lizzy Yeager as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Yeager has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Foster let Julie Jacoby and Emerson Lechler run wild. Jacoby got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Lechler went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. What's more, Jacoby posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jessica Reyes, who went 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Foster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Memorial only posted an OBP of .238.
The win was the 13th in a row for Foster, bringing their record up to 21-6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Memorial, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 22-5.
Both Memorial and Foster just can't seem to miss. The Mustangs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Foster struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
